BMTC Breed Appreciation Day

On the 6th November the BMTC ran a Breed Appreciation Day for those interested in learning more about the Breed and interpreting the breed standard. The speakers were our own Carol Dunford on expanding the Breed Standard, Paul Eardley, vice-Chairman of the KC who spoke about judging the Breed from an all-rounders point of view, and yours truly who thoroughly enjoyed sharing some recent research on the history of the breed. This was followed by a Multiple-Choice Exam for those on the judging ladder, (congratulations – everyone passed!) whilst others had the opportunity to go over members’ dogs and chat informally on a one-to-one basis to learn more. Lunch was then followed by a mentoring session for the Judges. We had wonderful feed-back from the 30+ attendees, and even boosted the membership. Importantly, this day was FREE to all participants thanks to a very generous bequest from the late Miss Nerolie de Lavis-Trafford to be used by the British Manchester Terrier Club for the education of Judges. This bequest is administered by the KC who authorised the application for Funds which the Club received this week.

We look forwards to holding more of these days (two previous planned events fell victim to Covid) when we hope to welcome even more members.
