St. George’s parade 2018

The 2018 St Georges Day Parade in Manchester was once again a superb day out across the generations of two and four legged participants. Although the promised dampness was in evidence at the start, by the time we had reached the end of the first street it had dried up and the sun came out for most of the day. It does seem like we spent most of the walk being filmed and photographed both on phones by the crowds and by official photographers – even before we set off!
Thank you so much to everyone that came along with their gorgeous dogs. Hats off to Sue and Tom who travelled all the way from Devon for the occasion and to Gerald “The Dragon” who once again came from Weston Super Mare. Mr D aka “St George” was spotted keeping a watchful eye on you!
A total of 24 Manchesters showed off to the crowds through Piccadilly Gardens, we loved waving to you all (didn’t we Sonia?!) and we loved taking our dogs to your children for treats and pats. It is amazing how many children drew back when they first saw the dogs come close, but a few seconds later were enthusiastically fussing them. The dogs do seem to understand what is required of them and promoted themselves unreservedly.
Thanks to those who took turns carrying the banner (an addition this year of two silhouettes of MTs on top Sue Pinkham will recognise them!) and to Ged and family who kindly handled my charges whilst I was running about trying to take photos.
The après-Parade bite to eat at a local hostelry is becoming a tradition, and thanks to Martin for sorting a dog-friendly location for us.
