National Pet Show – 2-3 November 2019

Sue Pinkham writes:

Well that’s the last breed stand for 2019. We started the year at the NEC with Crufts Discover Dogs and, after a further eleven events, ended the year back at the NEC with the Pet Show. From the minute the doors opened on Saturday until they closed on Sunday we had a constant stream of people young and old visiting the stand. We had people visiting the stand to research the breed and past and present MT owners needing a Mannie fix. We had lots of interest in the breed both days.

I would like to thank everyone who has made our last breed stand of the year such a success. On Saturday there was Donald who made his debut with Lavinia and Dan Paxton; Frenchie and Dolly with Susan O’Boyle and Connor; Bruce and Rizzo with Louise Plant; Mia and Sara with Vicki and Paul Bundy; and Kate with me. Returning on Sunday was Frenchie and Dolly with Susan O’Boyle and Bruce and Vinnie with Louise Plant. Joining them was Chilli and Tikka with Hazel and Geoff Midwinter; and Otto and Ruby with Vicky and Laura Sharpe.

All the dogs behaved impeccable and were so relaxed on the table being stroked and petted by so many people young and old. The younger dogs spent time in the pen entertaining the crowds with their play fights. Otto especially enjoyed flirting with Tikka and Katie showed of her guarding skills when other dogs got too close to the stand.
We also had the opportunity to showcase the breed on the ‘Catwalk’. Each breed was invited to be interviewed on a small stage for 15 minutes about their breed. On Saturday and me and Katie did our bit. Katie was a star showing off her obedience training. On Sunday Louise’s daughter Phoebe with Vinnie braved the microphone and crowds and did really well answering all the questions. They were both amazing ambassadors for the breed.

Finally my thanks go to my John for helping me set-up the stand and Susan and Louise for packing the stand away. The next breed stand will be in Discover Dogs at Crufts 2020.
