Crufts – Obreedience

Jean Walker writes:
Well, Manchesters Reunited’s dreams of success in the Obreedience Competition at Crufts came to an end when a couple of mistakes put us right out of contention. We were thrilled to have qualified for the final, but that was never enough for us as we knew we had the ability if things went right to compete against the best. The heelwork takes up about fifty percent of the duration of the event; we did really well in this, and were lying in second place when the individual exercises began. Although we only lost a few points, the dogs did in fact complete all the exercises, the standard was so high with perfect scores coming right, left and centre we gradually slipped down the ratings. This is what makes obedience so exciting, the slightest slip makes the difference between win and lose. Nevertheless we had a lovely day, and we will try even harder next year.

The team would like to thank Ann Mason for our wonderful team mascot ‘Angel’. Also thanks Leslie Olbinson for dressing our bench area with posters of the team and dogs, unfortunately no photos were taken. The dogs would also like to thank Mamma Jane’s for their lovely biscuits.
