I will start this weeks notes of by saying what a lovely atmosphere there was at last weeks BMTC champions show held at Markfield. It seemed very quiet at first, I think mainly due to the various roadworks taking place around the area, it was pleasing to see a steady stream of people arriving as the show got started. As always it was a smoothly run show with plenty of MT’s for our judge Janet Benton to go over. Some lovely young dogs and first timers, which is always encouraging to see when numbers of dogs being shown seems to be dwindling at some shows.

The principal winners were:

BCC & BIS: Mr& Mrs C Knight. Talanors Typically Special.

DCC & BOS: Mrs C Straughen. Talanors in for a treat.

PD & BPIS: Mr C Boot. Harliboo Word Gets Around.

VB & BVIS: Mrs B O’Neil. Ticknell Hidden Treasure at Megellen.

RDCC: Mr & Mrs C A Harrison. CH Magpiebank Ash.

RBCC: Mr J Walker. Ch Talanors Treat me good at Sizlin ShCM.

PB: Mrs E Symes & Mr D Pease. Paucelin Kite.

VD: Miss B Cawley. Victor James Montague.

A special day for Christy & Darren with their boys 1st CC! There were congratulations from everyone to his very tearful handler who wrote…Saturday 6th October what a day !!!!! We went along to the BMTC Champ Show today for a spot of catching up & a few giggles, boy did we get more than that…. Our little old smurf only went and won his first CC !!!!!!! What a feeling !!!!!!! I would like to say I held my emotions in check but I’m lying, I cried (again & again ), massive thank you to those that have supported me through my “troubles” (as well as Mads for showing me the Pedigree ropes ) and for everyone’s kind words & cuddles after our win, didn’t think this would happen to us, I was chuffed when we got the RCC! We ended the day going head to head with one half of the best breeders we could of hoped for, Gillian & Clive, and got RBIS (Massive well done Gill on BIS and Posh & Becks for their puppy win) Glass of fizz for me and the judge kindly gave Smurf a bottle of doggie beer so that’s him sorted as well!!

Safe to say I think it was a good day for them and all who took part. Special thanks go to our stewards Young Laura Sharp and her mentor Mandy Davies, all the busy  committee members at the table’s and everyone else who mucked in to make the show a success!

On the Mooch scene….

Sunday 14th Julie Bearder writes:

Rain certainly didn’t dampen the spirits of the hardy few who braved the elements on our second SCOOCH (South Cots mini mooch) It was fabulous to meet another MT from Jesters breeder (Paucelin). Bob was a real gentleman (big sis Dora the only non MT was  lovely too). It was also great to catch up with the delightful Lily and Beau again – just love this pair.  Lunch at the Old Forge was much appreciated at the end.  Many thanks to Johnathon and Jennifer Stowell, Katie and Tim Collyer for your company.

Saturday 20th October Mannie Mooch – West Wittering. Linda Shaw writes:

Well yesterday was a glorious day or a walk and 14 Mannie’s got to enjoy a fantastic run around with some new friends. It was delightful to have 3 pups enjoying the fun and for some their first visit to the beach. Vesper enjoyed seeing her brother Zeus and put a smile on my face seeing them puppy play fighting…so adorable. Spartacus & Maximus looking as fit as ever and I got plenty of time to see them up close as we’re loving my livercake cake. Binky well lots of up close and personal with my treat pocket!

Relief from all that no starfish were eaten on this trip and they only thing you had to worry about was treat theft. Any owner put their hand in their pocket, you could guarantee a pack of dogs were waiting.

Well lovely mixture of boys & girls and all participating in the fun. Not sure I can add much more other than some exhausting dogs & owners this morning!

Breed promotion…..

Report from Judy Thurlow 21/10/18:

Well Discover Dogs at Excel is over for another year, and what a busy weekend!!!

So many people were visiting to find out more about the breed, having them on a shortlist, and may be joining in with Mooches to see them in action!

I cannot praise the dogs enough as they were absolutely amazing!! Saturday we were joined by Sheldon and Penny with their groom and treat carrier Linda Walker also Merlin with his minions John Saxby and Naomi Macdonald, he was a bit overwhelmed to start with but soon settled and was a star!

Sunday Norti Nora brought her slave Chrissie Bynam, Nora did not live up to her name and at the tender age of 5 months coped really well and was a hit with the public!!

Both days Kita, Gypsy, Willow and Daisy wowed the crowds! Thanks to my right hand woman Carole Brown and Sarah and Amy for helping me set up and break down the stand and keeping me supplied with coffee!!!

We had such a lot of cake to share but I don’t think many of us had time to eat it all as we were so busy!!!

There’s been plenty of wins at open shows this week!!

Dawn Boot: 20/10/18

Birmingham Gundog and Terrier club. Phoebe Reserve BOB and Reggie 1st and BPIB.This was the 1st time in a loooooong time that I had to step in the ring and handle our princess. Thankyou to Su Carlin for thinking so highly of our furry kids. Super day with some great friends. Welldone to smurf for his BOB.

Dawn Boot: 21/10/18 Northwich & District Canine Society. Phoebe 2nd in AVNSC Open and son Reggie 1st in AVNSC Puppy, Best AVNSC Puppy, Group 2 AND 1st in AVNSC Puppy Stakes earning my handsome boy £5 spending money.

21/10/18  Bethany Cawley: Marvin has had another great day today at the Terrier Club of Devon & Cornwall. He beat the girls to take Best of Breed and eventually ended up Best Veteran In Show under Judge Paul Eardley.

21/10/18 Mark Walshaw: First time I have had the opportunity to attend and show a dog at a Open Show today for a good few months, so was an enjoyable day at Houghton le Spring Canine. Nice to have a natter to a few people. Delighted with ‘B’ Janmark Back T’ Black, great results, no classes for Manchesters, so in AVNSC, winning best of Breed from open, then going into the Group and been awarded top spot, group 1. I thought she moved well in the strong BIS line up and she was duly rewarded with Reserve Best in Show, behind a lovely free striding Newfoundland now sat at home enjoying a well deserved beer, while B guards the fire, with Mam & dad (laid on him, lol)

Future events……

Come and visit our wonderful breed at our Breed Stand at the National Pet Show on 3-4 November 2018 at the NEC.

There will be two Northern mooches in November to make up for the lack of one in October!!!

So Saturday 10th, meeting at Sale Water Park, Rifle Road, Sale, M33 2LX (far car park) at 11:00 for a walk down the Mersey to chorlton water park and back. Stopping at Jackson’s boat for some lunch or just a drink on way back.

Sunday 18th meeting at Anderton boat lift car park, Lift Ln, Northwich, CW9 6FW at 12:00 for a stroll through Marbury led by Daniel.

Hope plenty of you can make it to one or both.

That’s enough for this week I think! Don’t forget to keep me informed of anything you would like included. Keep those MT’s warm now the weather is changing!!

Lesley Olbinson.
