The National Pet Show – 3/4 November 2018 Sue Pinkham reports:

Well that’s the last breed stand for 2018. During the year, there has been thirteen breed stands in total: we had our first Dog Lover Show in Glasgow, two discover dogs, one pet show, and the rest were game and country fairs. All of us involved, dogs, handlers and organisers, have had a fantastic time promoting our amazing breed. MTs are more and more being recognised up and down the country. We have met some lovely people along the way and several of them new owners after seeing the breed for the first time at a breed stand.

I would like to thank everyone who has made all the breed stands such a success and especially those that made this weekend’s at the Pet Show go so well. These were Lesley Olbinson with Mr D and Grace; Vicki and Paul Bundy with Mia, Eira and Sara; Nigel Keates with Betty and Mabel; Sonia Owczarek with Billy and Pixie; David Fowler with Stella and Cooper; Sue O’Boyle and Tina with Charmers, Romeo and Annoria; and not forgetting my two Lexi and Katie.

All the dogs behaved impeccableand were so relaxed on the table being stroked and petted by so many people young and old. Several people expressed a lot of interest in the breed.

A new feature at the show was the opportunity to showcase the breed on the ‘Catwalk’. Each breed was invited to be interviewed on a small stage for 15 minutes about their breed. Lesley and Grace represented the breed on Saturday and me and Katie did our bit on Sunday. They were both excellent ambassadors for the breed.

Finally my thanks go to my John for all the help he has given me this year in preparing for all of the shows, helping me set-up and putting-up with my moans and groans.

The next breed stand will be in Discover Dogs at Crufts 2019.

Mooch news:

10/11/18 Another lovely Mooch in Manchester today. 15 Black and Tans (& Todd) Enjoyed six and a half miles of Mannie madness down the river Mersey from Sale to Chorlton water park and back. A few of us called in to Jackson’s boat on the way back for refreshments. Lots of positive comments from passers by, most recognising their breed!!! All behaved impeccably as always, although Grace did wind them all up on quite a few occasions!!! Looking forward to next Sunday’s at Anderson’s boat lift!!

18/11/18 A glorious November day to Mooch at Anderson boat lift! Thanks to Daniel for leading us on a lovely 6 miles walk. A total of 20.5 MT’s, the.5 being the gawgus puppy topaz, rambled through the woods having a whale of a time!! There was not bad words between any of them, the boys as rowdy as ever, Grace getting involved as always!!! All were unsurprisingly shattered when we got back to the cars and settled down whilst the humans enjoyed a wonderful buffet of hot soups, rolls, savoury cake, pork and egg pies, sausage rolls, crispy, cakes and a superb chocolate and orange cake made by Julie (you’ll have to up your game for your next one Jeanette ) I can confidently say everyone has a fantastic time and great to have more first time Moochers!

Jane Aspden made some yummy biscuits for the dogs and posted:

Thank you to the BMTC Northern Moochers who raised £20 today in aid of Dog Lost by purchasing home made dog biscuits. Don’t forget you can create a profile for your pooches on http://www.doglost.co.uk so that if the worst happens you’re not scrabbling around trying to find a decent picture or remember your mobile number. They will help you with contact details of local rescues and dog wardens etc and have a network of volunteers across the country who will share your ‘lost’ advert with their social media network so you get maximum coverage. (and no, I don’t work for them, I just lost a dog once and wished I’d had this kind of support!)Look out for the Mama Jane’s exclusive seasonal special Turkey and Cranberry biscuits, available at LKA on Sunday 16th December!
